伦敦（London），是英国首都，是世界上最大的金融中心之一。它是英国的政治、经济、文化、中心和世界著名的旅游胜地，是多元化的大都市，居民来自世界各地，一座种族、宗教与文化的大熔炉城市，使用的语言超过300多种，是全球化的典范。

2018年，伦敦在世界城市规模的排名中与纽约并列位居首位。

2018年10月，第十七届“全球城市竞争力排行榜”发布，伦敦排名第三。

2018年11月，伦敦被GaWC评为Alpha++级世界一线城市。

那么，伦敦到底有多大呢？

1.按行政区划分

通常我们所称的“伦敦”是指1965年英格兰的行政区划中设立的大伦敦都市区（Greater London 或London region），大伦敦包括了伦敦金融城（City of London）和其他32个市区，一共33个次级行政区（如下图所示）。

伦敦金融城（City of London）外的12个市区称为内伦敦，其它20个市区称为外伦敦。伦敦城、内伦敦、外伦敦构成了大伦敦市。

2.按生活区划分

从生活层面来说，现在大家说的区域大部分都是以33个行政区域下的小行政区名字，比如华人居住较多的Tower Hamlet和Newham行政区。

这两个区域又被细分，大家熟悉的金丝雀码头Canary Wharf就属于Tower Hamlets大行政区；以及奥运村Stratford & Olympic Park就是Newham大行政区。

3.按邮编划分

伦敦的邮政编码有两部分：

第一部分以字母开头，根据在伦敦的方位而定；后面的数字根据区域名称而定。

第二部分由一个数字和两个字母组成，根据具体街道名称而定。

因此只要知道伦敦邮政编码，就可以在某些地图网站上搜到和打印出非常详细的伦敦景点周边地图。在伦敦旅行时看到建筑物上的伦敦邮政编码，也能大致判断自己所在的位置。
